Kids Party Hints from a Mum

• Don’t do it in your own house – children cause havoc and some will stay all day; you’ll be cleaning up for weeks
• Pay for entertainment – parents are not recognised as entertainment and will be ignored
• Birthday cake suggestion – pile of mini choc rolls – most kids don’t eat it and its clean & easy, stick candle in top and looks effective, no baking required
• If dressing up always have a theme as this helps with party bags – superheros v cool
• Don’t let all the parents leave so they can deal with mishaps
• It IS a big deal who sits next to the birthday boy/girl
• Outdoor space is handy – can isolate the naughty ones without causing a fuss
• Church halls are great!
• Save the expense of paper cups and instead buy a box of bottled drinks for the children – label each one with their name so they can find it again and you’ll have far fewer spillages – they can always be topped up with squash once finished
